Chapter 17 - Sneak Thief

I was doing my night skin care when I heard a knock on the door. I rushes to the door, my face still half covered in cleanser "Megha! Is everything okay?" I was surprised but happy to see my best friend this late "Just come in, I'm doing my skincare... I can finish while we talk."

Megha comes in and gives me a dress. I took the dress from Megha, my brows furrowing slightly "What's this for, Megha? And why are you giving it to me so late?" She sets the dress down on my bed, my hands still slightly damp from the cleanser.

Megha grins mischievously, sitting down on my bed. "You're not going to like this, but trust me, you need to wear this tomorrow evening." I ask confusingly, "why?"

Megha says, "tomorrow evening their is a business party Niru." My eyes widen in surprise and a hint of panic "A business party? Tomorrow evening? Megha, you know I hate those stiff, boring events! Why do I have to go?" I pouts, crossing my arms over my chest.

Megha chuckles, standing up and grabbing the dress again. "Because, my dear Niru, Ashtram's sir mansion is where the party is being held. And you can't miss it. You need to be there." She wags the dress at me.

I sighs heavily, uncrossing my arms and taking the dress from Megha "Fine, fine. But what's the reason behind this party."

Megha's expression turns serious for a moment, her voice lowering to a whisper "It's a big deal, Niru. Ashtram's  sir company has just secured a huge, multi-million dollar deal. This party is to celebrate and network with potential clients."

I ask, "why I was not aware about it Megha."

Megha shrugs, looking slightly embarrassed. "Honestly, I forgot to tell you. Vedant only informed me some hours ago, and I've been so busy with my own work that I didn't remind you. But you need to be there, Niru."

I grins playfully at Megha's obvious fluster "Vedant, huh? How serious are you two getting these days?" I winks teasingly "First you forget to tell me about important parties, now you're all flushed just mentioning his.

Megha blushes deeper, waving her hand dismissively while grinning "Oh stop it, you troublemaker! We're just... really good friends. But yes, he does tend to distract me. Anyway, back to you - make sure you look stunning tomorrow, okay?"

Smiling sneakily "Well, since you went through the trouble of bringing this dress, I guess I'll make an effort to dazzle everyone, including a certain Mr. Ashtram." I holds up the dress, admiring its elegance.

Rolling her eyes dramatically "As if you wouldn't dazzle him without the dress! Just... try not to make him fall in love with you completely, okay? Keep some mystery. Though honestly..." She leans in conspiratorially "I think it might be too late for that."

My cheeks turn a soft pink at Megha's teasing "Stop it! You're embarrassing me..." I playfully swats Megha's arm, but can't help the small smile forming on her lips "Maybe... I do want to look my best tomorrow."

Megha grins triumphantly, clapping her hands together "That's the spirit!, wear this dress, do your hair, and don't spare the jewellery - show them the real Niranya Sharma!"

My eyes sparkling with excitement and a touch of nervousness "You know what? I think I will. Thank you, Megha. For the dress, and for pushing me to do this." I hug my best friend tightly, already imagining how I will look and feel in the stunning dress.

Megha hugs her back, smiling warmly "Anytime, Niru. Now, get some rest. You have a big night ahead of you."

I nod, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness as Megha leaves. I look down at the dress in my hands, running my fingers along the smooth fabric. A small smile plays on my lips as I think about the upcoming party and the possibility of seeing Ashtram again.

I carefully hang the dress in my wardrobe, the shimmering fabric catching the dim light of my room. As I close the door, I can't help but feel a flutter of excitement in my stomach, despite my usual reluctance to social gatherings.

I changed into a comfortable nightdress, my thoughts still lingering on the party and the dress Megha gave me. I climb into bed, snuggling under the covers as I scroll through my phone, trying to distract myself from the impending event.

Suddenly sits upright in bed, my heart racing as I heard the faint sounds from my balcony. I quietly slide out of bed, grabbing a nearby robe to wrap around myself. My mind immediately goes to the worst-case scenarios - burglar? Stray cat? "Who's there?"

With cautious steps, I approaches the balcony door, my hand trembling slightly as I reaches for the handle. I takes a deep breath before throwing the door open boldly, ready to confront whatever - or whoever - might be out there.

As the balcony door swings open, my eyes widen in shock as a figure suddenly appears before me. Without warning, strong arms reach out and catch me as I stumbles backwards, my legs giving way beneath me.

Parking my car near Megha's house as she live with her, I quickly gathers the boxes of chocolates and the diamond-encrusted chocolate heart. With a determined look, I make my way to the rear of the building, spotting her balcony. Carefully climbing the balcony railing, I hoists myself up and over, landing silently on the balcony.

I pauses for a moment, considering the irony of his situation. I chuckles softly to myself, shaking my head. "If only my rivals could see their feared Mafia King turned lovesick Romeo, climbing balconies like a teenager."

Peering through the window. She's still awake," I murmurs to myself, my brows furrowing slightly. I smirk, my mind racing with excitement. Perfect. She won't even know what hit her. I'll just wait a bit and then...I trail off, my eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Time to surprise my angel."

As my Jaan suddenly opens the balcony door, I caught off guard. My eyes widen as I see her stumbling forward, on the verge of falling over. Without a second thought, my lunges forward, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her back against my chest.

She turns her head, her eyes meeting my surprised gaze. "Ash? What are you doing here? How did you even get onto my balcony?" Her voice is a mix of surprise, confusion, even as she remains pressed against my chest, my arms still wrapped protectively around her.

My arms tightening around her possessively. "Answer this," I murmur against her ear, "Were you about to have a late-night accident and fall off your balcony?"

She squirms slightly, trying to regain some composure even as my arms tighten, keeping her firmly against mine. "Of course not! I just..."

"Then explain how you ended up opening the door and nearly toppling over?" My eyes search hers intensely, a hint of a smirk tugging at my lips.

She rolls her eyes, exasperated by my line of questioning and the fact that I seems to be enjoying this too much. "I was checking if the door was locked, alright?

My smirk widens, finding her exasperation adorable. "Of course you were... checking at midnight?" I pauses, my voice dropping to a husky whisper. "Or were you expecting me hm Jaan?"

She bites her lower lip, trying to maintain some semblance of dignity. "In your dreams, Ash. I was definitely not expecting you to come climbing up my balcony like some sneak thief!"

My eyes gleam with amusement at her feisty response. "Sneak thief, huh? Is that what you think I am?" I leans in closer, my breath fanning across her face. "Because right now, I feel more like a guardian angel, catching you before you fall."

She narrows her eyes, her curiosity piqued despite herself. "You still haven't answered my question. What are you doing here, Ash? It's the middle of the night." She tilts her head, studying my face in the soft moonlight.

With a dramatic flourish, I pulls out an elegantly wrapped box of chocolates from behind my back, along with a delicate, diamond-encrusted chocolate heart. "I came to give you these... and check on my favorite night owl."

She shakes her head, a rueful smile tugging at her lips. "Honestly, Ash, you are crazy"

I grins unabashedly, holding the gifts closer. "Crazy about you, apparently." My eyes soften as I gazes at her.

"Your insta story said someone should surprise you with so many chocolates. So here I am." I smirk, my eyes twinkling in the moonlight.

She chuckles, shaking her head in amusement. "Oh, you actually paid attention to my stories? And you thought it was a genuine invitation for you to show up on my balcony in the middle of the night?" She reaches out to take the box of chocolates from me, her fingers brushing against mine.

I lean against the balcony railing, my gaze never leaving hers. "Besides, I wanted to see that smile again Jaan... even if it means scaling a few walls."

She nods, opening the door and stepping aside to let me in. "Alright, alright, come in before you freeze to death. But you're not off the hook that easily, Ash. You still need to explain how you got past the guards and onto my balcony in the first place."

I smirk, following her inside. "Trade secrets, my Angel. A true gentleman never reveals his methods."

We plops down on her bed, the box of chocolates opened and being eagerly examined by my Angel. "Mmm, look at all these! You really went all out, didn't you?" She selects a chocolate and unwraps it, popping it into her mouth with a contented sigh.

I lounges back on the bed, watching her with a warm smile. "Of course I did. I wanted to make it special."

"Hey, wait a minute! How did you even get your hands on this many chocolates this late at night? Every shop in town would've been closed." She narrows her eyes.

My smirk grows sly. "Ah, but you see, when you're the heir to the Raghuvansi business empire, even at midnight, the city bends to your whims. All I need to do is order."

"What, do you have a special midnight chocolate hotline or something?!" She laughs incredulously. I chuckles, leaning forward conspiratorially. "Something like that."

With chocolate-dusted lips and sparkling eyes, she looks at me playfully. "Hey, want to try one? After all this grand gesture, it feels wrong to enjoy them alone." She holds out a chocolate temptingly close, her smile mischievous. "Go on, don't be shy."

My gaze drops to the offered chocolate, then back to her face. My smirk returns, wider and more intent. "You know what would be even sweeter than chocolate right now Jaan?"

"And what might that be, Ash?" She leans in closer, the chocolate still held out between them, a delicious and distracting treat. "Tell me, what could possibly be sweeter than these chocolates?"

My voice drops lower, becoming more intimate in the quiet of her room. "This." Slowly, deliberately, I catches her wrist, gentle but firm, pulling her hand with the chocolate closer to my lips. Instead of taking the chocolate, I gently kisses her fingertips.

My lips linger on her fingertips a moment longer before I pulls back, a playful glint in my eyes. "Care to feed me personally? It'd be a shame for these chocolates to miss the sweetness of your touch."

She bites her lip, a soft blush coloring her cheeks as she considers his request. "Ash, you're being ridiculous."

My expression grows more intense, voice dropping to a husky whisper as I reaches out, catching a strand of her hair between my fingers. "Perhaps I am. But I'd rather feed on you than any chocolate."

My eyes meet hers, smoldering with intent."Eat the chocolate..." My fingers trace her jawline softly..."and I'll eat you Angel." My voice is a whisper, intense and intimate in the quiet room. "I promise you'll prefer my taste..."

Her breath hitches in her throat as she stares at me, the chocolate forgotten in her hand. "Ash... you can't say things like that." Then suddenly I did something that made her eyes widen......
